Red Wings Team Report
(Fri, 19 Mar 2010 02:30:48 PDT)
For someone whose career appeared to be all but over after last season, rejuvenated forward Tomas Holmstrom has been invaluable for a club that was decimated by injuries much of the season and has struggled to score goals.
Holmstrom reached the 20-goal mark for the fifth time in his career Monday, scoring his most important goal of the season. He deflected in a shot from Johan Franzen to snap a tie with 1:19 remaining in his team's 2-1 win over Calgary. Holmstrom is second on the team in goals behind Pavel Datsyuk, who has 22, despite having missed 14 games with injuries.
Largely because of a slew of injuries (knee, hernia, back), Holmstrom didn't score in his final 19 playoff games last season and had just two goals in his last 41 games, regular season and playoffs.
