Rangers Team Report
(Wed, 07 Jan 2009 02:36:32 PST)
Henrik Lundqvist's first-half numbers have mirrored those of the first-place Rangers. That is, a victory total padded by the most shootout wins in the NHL.
Still, the superstar goalie reached the 20-win plateau in the Blueshirts' 41st game Monday night, becoming just the fifth netminder to achieve that feat in each of his first four seasons in the NHL.
Lundqvist, who led the NHL with 10 shutouts in 2007-08, also registered his first blanking of the season in the 4-0 win over struggling Pittsburgh. That victory catapulted the Rangers back atop the Atlantic Division entering Wednesday's game against Montreal.
"It is about time. I haven't even been close to a shutout," said Lundqvist, who is on pace to exceed his single-season high of 37 wins.
