The Flyers learned in the last two weeks what teams in Western Canada have known for years: It's tough traveling across the country while playing against teams with fresh legs and rowdy fans.
Despite a spate of injuries, the Flyers managed to get through their longest trip of the season with a 2-2-2 record, moving into a first-place tie with the Rangers as they head into Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild.
"All things considered, it was a good road trip," Flyers center Jeff Carter said after the Flyers picked up another point in their third straight shootout. "We were banged up, but we pulled together."

The surging Washington Capitals and their fans finally stood up to the Philadelphia Flyers. The Capitals edged the Flyers 2-1 in a shootout on Tuesday night for their seventh straight win. The victory helped avenge the only loss they've had in a month and ease some of the sting from last year's first-round playoff series loss to Philly.

Sergei Samsonov scored his 200th career goal and the Carolina Hurricanes withstood a late rally to beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 Tuesday night. Ray Whitney and Tuomo Ruutu also scored for the Hurricanes, who extended their winning streak to a season-high four games. Cam Ward continued his recent surge for the Hurricanes, making 26 saves.
