Nicklas Lidstrom is headed to the NHL All-Star game for the 10th straight season, but for the first time as captain of the Stanley Cup champion. The six-time Norris Trophy winner, as the league's best defenseman, and Detroit Red Wings teammate Pavel Datsyuk were among 15 players chosen Wednesday to fill out the Western Conference roster for the midseason classic to be played Jan.

Halfway through the season, the Coyotes have been a mixture of good and bad. They're hoping to get the second half off to a good start Thursday when they play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning, coached by former Coyotes assistant Rick Tocchet. Despite the blowout loss Tuesday, the Coyotes remain in the top eight in the Western Conference, and that's a positive they hope can serve as a steppingstone for the last 41 games. Coach Wayne Gretzky is looking at the positives. "It's amazing that as quickly as you can sink, you can go back to the top pretty fast, too," he said "Now we have to look forward to the next 41 games." The Phoenix Coyotes sent goalie Josh Tordjman back to the minor leagues on Thursday, just a day after calling him up from the San Antonio Rampage. Joining Tordjman on the trip to Texas will be forward Daniel Winnik, who had one assist in 23 games for the Coyotes this season.
