Blackhawks Team Report
(Sun, 21 Mar 2010 01:35:43 PDT)
Ever since they came back after the Olympic break, the Blackhawks have had trouble holding leads.
Their latest failure in that regard came Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes, their next opponent Tuesday at the United Center.
The Hawks were leading 2-1 after two periods only to see Phoenix tie the game in the third. Then the Hawks opened a two-goal lead, but couldn't hold that one, either. Phoenix won in a shootout, dropping the Hawks to 14-6 in games that go into overtime and 8-6 in those that end in shootouts.
Phoenix will take a franchise-record eight-game winning streak into Tuesday's game.
After that set of consecutive games with the Coyotes, the Hawks will have a similar set with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Vrbata's SO goal lifts Coyotes over Blackhawks
(Sat, 20 Mar 2010 21:55:45 PDT)
Radim Vrbata and the Phoenix Coyotes did what only three teams have done -- rally after two periods to beat the Chicago Blackhawks. Vrbata scored the lone goal of the shootout and the Coyotes twice came back from two-goal deficits to beat the Blackhawks 5-4 on Saturday night for their eighth straight win.
Long overdue, NHL set to eliminate hits to head
(Fri, 19 Mar 2010 16:41:23 PDT)
The dazed and distant look on Brent Seabrook's face after the Chicago Blackhawks defenseman got crushed against the boards cried out for a head shot ban -- in time for the third period. The sight of Boston Bruins star Marc Savard out cold on the ice after a vicious hit March 7 sent a message about the need for attention to player safety, too.

(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 23:32:53 PDT)
A couple of timely goals by a fourth-line forward and a pair of stellar defensive plays by one of Chicago's few healthy defensemen helped the Blackhawks move into a tie with San Jose for the Western Conference lead. Tomas Kopecky scored twice in a 3:20 span in the third period, and Antti Niemi made 17 saves for his fifth career shutout in the Blackhawks' 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles...

Koivu's goal gives Ducks win over Blackhawks
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 07:09:24 PDT)
For the second straight game, the Chicago Blackhawks lost a key member of their defense because of a vicious check against the boards behind the net. To add insult to injury, Anaheim's Saku Koivu scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period -- just seconds after a blind-side cross-check by Corey Perry against defenseman Brent Sopel that easily could have been called interference.
