Avalanche Team Report
(Wed, 07 Jan 2009 02:36:32 PST)
When the Avalanche signed goalie Andrew Raycroft last summer, it gave the former Calder Trophy winner a fresh start and a chance to get some spot starts behind No. 1 goalie Peter Budaj.
It's starting to look like one of the most underrated moves of the offseason.
After sitting on the bench for most of October and November, Raycroft has won five straight starts and could get the call again Thursday when the Avalanche plays the high-scoring Chicago Blackhawks.
"There was a bit of a gap between starts here and there where you have to stay sharp, but the more you play and the more confidence you have, the easier it gets out there and the more comfortable I am," Raycroft said.
