Redskins Team Report
(Mon, 05 Jan 2009 19:48:21 PST)

Jim Zorn is disappointed the Redskins aren't in the playoffs, especially because Washington started the season 4-1 and was 6-2 at midseason. But the first-year coach said just making the playoffs isn't good enough.

"I want to coach a team that is a playoff team, not just a team that gets to the playoffs," Zorn said in his season wrap-up press conference. "I want these guys to be perennial. I don't want it to be a question of, 'Gosh, are we going to make it?' I want us to say, 'Where are we going to be seeded?' But we've got a lot of work to do to get to that point."

With Green Bay, Dallas and Seattle failing to qualify for postseason, the only NFC team that fits Zorn's description is the defending champion New York Giants, who dispatched the Redskins with relative ease...

(Sat, 27 Dec 2008 21:01:41 PST)
Andre Carter has been limping for most of the season, bothered by foot injuries that have stopped him from rushing the passer with his usual abandon for the Washington Redskins. Yet he'll have a spring in his step Sunday, despite the Redskins' elimination from the playoff chase, when he takes the field at Candlestick Park -- a place that still feels like home, and a place he never really wanted to...

(Sun, 21 Dec 2008 18:16:43 PST)
Still in full uniform long after the game was over, Reggie Brown sat silently with his hands on his lap, staring down into his locker. Finally, after a shower, the Philadelphia Eagles receiver returned to reflect on the play that fell 1 yard short at the end of a 10-3 loss to the Washington Redskins -- a play that kept his team from having a chance to control its playoff destiny.
