Top-seeded Giants an enigma heading into playoffs
(Tue, 06 Jan 2009 14:06:31 PST)
The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants are entering the playoffs as somewhat of an enigma. While they are the NFC's top-seeded team, they have not been playing like the conference's best team heading into Sunday's conference semifinal against the Philadelphia Eagles (10-6-1) at Giants Stadium.

Giants Team Report
(Mon, 05 Jan 2009 19:48:21 PST)
Since the Giants didn't have a playoff game during wild-card weekend, they were able to sit in front of their television sets and watch all four games, if they so chose, in a span of 30 hours or so.
Perhaps the team trainers and doctors will have a solution for all those squalid eyeballs and remote control clicking fingers, but the only thing they saw that was of paramount and immediate interest was the Philadelphia Eagles' relentless mutilation of an ill-prepared Minnesota Vikings squad.
So the Eagles' 26-14 victory set up an interdivision meeting on Sunday at Giants Stadium, and if the coaches and players could afford to speak their minds, they would say that this is the one encounter they would have least wanted.
Pioli to talk to Chiefs; Broncos speak to Morris
(Mon, 05 Jan 2009 16:47:23 PST)
Scott Pioli has become a hot commodity among a few teams hoping to rebuild. Pioli, one of the architects behind New England's three Super Bowl victories, is talking to Kansas City about its vacant general manager's job. He has also been courted by Cleveland for its GM position. The 43-year-old Pioli was scheduled to meet with Chiefs owner Clark Hunt on Monday, according to persons with knowledge of...
Pierce will have a chip on his shoulder for Eagles
(Mon, 05 Jan 2009 13:49:20 PST)
Antonio Pierce was thrust into the national spotlight a little more than a month ago, and not for any on-field reasons. Pierce was cited for failing to alert authorities after helping Plaxico Burress get treatment after the receiver accidentally shot himself in the thigh. The New York Giants middle linebacker will be under the microscope once again thanks to somebody else: Philadelphia Eagles...
Everyone wants to be last year's Giants
(Mon, 05 Jan 2009 12:57:31 PST)
With the second round of the NFL playoffs upon us, there are multiple aspirants to become last season's Giants, the team from nowhere that swept through the postseason to an improbable Super Bowl title. Unfortunately for the Giants, they aren't one of them. They are the NFC's top-seeded team, the hunted instead of the hunter, as they prepare to meet Philadelphia for the third time this season.

Giants and Eagles will meet for a third time
(Sun, 04 Jan 2009 18:27:30 PST)
If there was one team that was going to get the New York Giants' attention in the NFC semifinals, it was the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia embarrassed the defending Super Bowl champions 20-14 at Giants Stadium in a game that really wasn't that close. Andy Reid's team will bring one other scary factor up the New Jersey Turnpike on Sunday when they face New York (12-4): the Eagles appear to be...
