Cowboys Team Report
(Mon, 05 Jan 2009 19:48:21 PST)
The Cowboys have problems they need to sort out before next season.
That is always the case when the team takes a huge step backward. Dallas went from 13-3 in 2007 to 9-7 in 2008.
The Cowboys underachieved and disappointed like no team in franchise history. And this was supposedly the most talented squad in the NFL and certainly the most talented team in Dallas since the Cowboys last won the Super Bowl following the 1995 season.
Jerry Jones has stated that the coaching staff will remain the same. He has painted himself into a corner.
Head coach Wade Phillips will be back, as so will offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and defensive coordinator Brian Stewart - as long as Garrett doesn't land a head coaching job.
Stewart was all but demoted during the...

Read's special teams unit made costly gaffes, including a blocked punt in overtime at Arizona that ended in a game-winning Cardinals touchdown. Breakdowns in kick coverage also beset Dallas, and Adam "Pacman" Jones fizzled as a return man.
