Wizards' Stevenson to miss at least 1 1/2 more weeks
(Wed, 07 Jan 2009 16:13:24 PST)
Washington Wizards shooting guard DeShawn Stevenson had a painkilling injection Wednesday to relieve pain in his back and is expected to miss at least another 1 1/2 weeks. Stevenson hasn't played since Dec. 30, missing four straight games. Wizards Team Report
(Wed, 07 Jan 2009 02:10:05 PST)
The Wizards' next eight opponents, for all intents and purposes, stink.
Washington is prepared to play stretch of their schedule that, perhaps in another time and place, they would be looking forward to, talking about making a push to the All-Star break to better position themselves for the sprint that is the second half of the season.
Beginning tonight at home with underachieving Toronto, the Wizards won't see another team playing wining basketball until they face the Lakers on Jan. 22.
"It's an interesting stretch for us that is going to tell us a lot about what type of pride we have," Wizards forward Antawn Jamison said. "In the predicament that we're in, we really can't look forward to playing anyone as much as they are looking forward to playing us.

Add LeBron James' "crab dribble" to the lengthy list of talking points in the Cavaliers-Wizards rivalry. "I'll have to check in my book to see what a 'crab dribble' is. I'm not quite sure," Washington interim coach Ed Tapscott said with a smile Monday. "I do know that we don't seem to get away with very many of them, whatever they are." James and the rest of the Cavaliers were given Monday off by...

(Sat, 27 Dec 2008 20:37:46 PST)
